What is Hotelier Visibility?

Hotelier Visibility is a hotel search intelligence platform built by the team at Melt Digital. It shows hotels how they are represented on Google: whether they appear when guests search, how high, at what price, and against which competitors and booking sites.

Google has become a booking engine in its own right. A guest searching for "boutique hotels in Leeds" sees a hotel pack with a map, a full list of hotels behind "More hotels", and for each hotel, a page of rates from the hotel's own website and every online travel agent (OTA) selling the room. Each of those surfaces decides who gets the booking, and each one changes week to week.

Rather than checking a handful of searches by hand, Hotelier Visibility brings all of it together: rankings, rates, deals, ratings and the organic results around the hotel listings, across every tracked search, location and kind of stay.

In short, it answers a simple question: when a guest looks for a hotel like yours on Google, who do they see, and what do they pay?

Key insights

See where booking sites undercut your direct rate

Every hotel's Google page lists the sites selling its rooms, with a rate from each. We record every rate in that list, so you can see when an OTA is cheaper than your own website, by how much, and how your rate compares with the hotels around you for the same night.

The rate check: the cheapest rate on each nearby hotel's Google page, against the hotel's own

Know where you sit on price

See your nightly rate on Google against the spread of rates across your city, for the same stay dates, and whether you are priced above or below the market average for your kind of hotel.

Rate position: a hotel's Google rate against the typical range and average for its city

See when competitors go on deal

Google Hotels flags rates that are "less than usual". We track those flags week by week for every hotel and its local competitive set, so a neighbour's sale shows up here before it shows in your bookings.

When a city discounts: each kind of stay's share of hotels showing a deal, week by week

Know who is winning your city

See which hotels Google puts in front of guests most often across every tracked search in a location, how high they rank, and who has gained or lost ground since last week.

Who leads a city: the most visible hotels, with their change since the previous week

See who wins by kind of stay

Luxury, budget, boutique, city centre or best rated: compare visibility, rank, rate and rating for every hotel competing for the same kind of guest.

Understand the booking sites

Google orders the booking sites on a hotel's page by its own partner ranking, and paid placements go to the top whatever they charge. We show which sites are listed most, which are actually cheapest most often, and which are paying for position.

Booking sites: how often each OTA is listed, how often it is cheapest, and how often it pays for the top slots

See who owns the organic results

Around the hotel listings sit the blue links: OTAs, metasearch sites, chains and travel guides. See who holds them in each city, and how much of the organic opportunity is left for hotels' own websites.

Track every keyword

For each hotel, see every tracked search it ranks for on Google Hotels and in the hotel pack, with search volume, position and the change since last week. For the biggest searches, you can open a screenshot of the results page itself.

How does Hotelier Visibility work?

Hotelier Visibility tracks Google search results for hotel keywords across UK locations every week, giving hotels a consistent view of how they and their competitors are performing.

For each keyword we collect three things:

  • The hotel pack: the three hotels and map Google shows on the main results page, in order, and the organic links around them.
  • Google Hotels: the full list behind "More hotels", with every hotel's position, rate, rating and deal.
  • Each hotel's own Google page: every booking site listed, the rate from each, and the order Google puts them in.

This is tracked over time, so changes are measured rather than guessed: a competitor climbing the rankings, an OTA undercutting your rate, a city's hotels going on sale together. Rather than looking at individual results in isolation, Hotelier Visibility brings them together by hotel, chain, location, kind of stay and booking site.

Who is Hotelier Visibility for?

Hotelier Visibility is built for the teams who decide how a hotel competes online:

  • Revenue and distribution teams monitoring rate parity, OTA undercutting and where the hotel sits on price.
  • Marketing and SEO teams tracking visibility in Google Hotels, the hotel pack and the organic results.
  • Hotel groups and chains wanting one consistent view across every property and market.
  • Booking sites and OTAs tracking how often they are listed, how often they are cheapest and where they rank on hotels' Google pages.

Instead of manually checking search results or rate shopping one hotel at a time, teams can see changes, trends and opportunities across a whole market in minutes.

Google is where most hotel stays are researched. Between the hotel pack, Google Hotels and each hotel's Google page, a guest can compare hotels, prices and booking sites without visiting a single hotel website. That makes Google the shop window, and the order things appear in it matters.

It also means the cheapest-looking rate wins attention, whoever is selling it. When an OTA undercuts a hotel's own rate on its Google page, the booking (and the commission) goes with it.

AI is accelerating this. Assistants such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Mode increasingly plan trips and recommend hotels, drawing on the same signals: ratings, prices, availability and who the web says is best for a given kind of stay. Understanding how your hotel appears in search today is the best early read on how it will appear in AI-led travel planning tomorrow.

What's next for Hotelier Visibility?

Hotelier Visibility will grow alongside the way guests find and book hotels:

  • AI visibility: tracking which hotels AI assistants recommend for the searches that matter to you.
  • Hotel page audits: checking how complete and competitive each hotel's Google page is, from photos and amenities to reviews.
  • More markets and keywords: more UK locations, more kinds of stay, and markets beyond the UK.
  • Alerts: a heads-up when a competitor goes on deal or an OTA undercuts your direct rate.

The goal is for Hotelier Visibility to be more than a monitoring tool: to show hotels what is happening on Google, where the opportunities are, and what to do about them.
